Improving the physical and mental well-being and SRH of street-connected children and youths in Gulu

TheImproving the Physical, Mental Well-Being, and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) of Street-Connected Youth in Gulu project was a one-year initiative implemented byHashtag Gulu, with the support ofFEDEVACO and Eirene Suisse, to address the urgent health and social challenges faced bystreet-connected children and youth (SCCY) in Gulu City, Uganda. The project aimed toprovide access to healthcare, mental health support, and advocacy initiatives to reduce stigma and improve the overall well-being of vulnerable youth.

Through this intervention, the project enhanced access to healthcare services for SCCY, including primary care and emergency referrals. It provided mental health support, including trauma therapy and substance abuse counseling, while also improving awareness and access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. The project strengthened community awareness and advocacy efforts to reduce the stigma against SCCY and built the institutional capacity of Hashtag Gulu to sustain health-related interventions for vulnerable youth.
