From Streets to Home: Creating Opportunities for Children and Young Adults Who Live on the Streets through Life Skills
From Streets to Home: Creating Opportunities for Children and Young Adults Who Live on the Streets through Life Skills project was implemented from January 2020 to April 2021. The project aimed to support street-connected children and youth (SCCY) in Gulu City, Uganda, by providing vocational skills training and fostering their reintegration into society. The project was funded by Valais Solidaire and Eirene Suisse and represented Hashtag Gulu’s first formal intervention after years of informal engagement with vulnerable youth. This initiative addressed the stigma, unemployment, and vulnerabilities faced by SCCY, equipping them with marketable skills while also running sensitisation and advocacy campaigns to shift community perceptions and increase opportunities for reintegration.
