Hashtag Gulu Initiative is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Farm Manager to lead the daily operations of our farm. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing sustainable farming practices, managing orchard, poultry, piggery and crop production, and providing agricultural life skills training. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure productivity, sustainability, and alignment with our broader mission of empowering Street Connected Children and Youth through skills development and community engagement.

Hashtag Gulu Initiative is a youth-focused and youth-led registered indigenous nonprofit organisation that cares for children and youths who live or work on the streets. Our work focuses on rehabilitation, reformation, and reintegration. We envision a community where everyone is responsible for each other’s well-being and contributes to its transformation by getting involved in creating an inclusive and peaceful society. Hashtag Gulu Initiative takes on activities that aim at providing alternatives to crime and violence by mentoring children and youths who live or live and work on the streets to become productive citizens.

Job Identification

• Position: Farm Manager.
• Duty Station: Hashtag Gulu Farm
• Location: Paicho Sub-County, Tee-Olam Village in Gulu District.
• Vacancy: 1 (One full-time)
• Reporting to: Project Coordinator
• Application deadline: Monday, August 12^th, 2025.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the farm team to ensure that all day-to-day farm activities, including planting, weeding, harvesting, watering of nursery beds, pest control, poultry keeping and agriculture skills training are done.
• Draw a periodic farm work schedule/plan for the farm team and coordinate activities at the farm, including the agriculture skills training.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and organisational policies.
• Develop and implement seasonal planting and harvesting calendars in line with organisational objectives.
• Oversee all activities, such as agricultural skills training, demonstration plots, farming, input distribution/sales, extension services, and community engagements.
• Support the implementation and come up with ideas of climate-smart practices that will promote the Hashtag Gulu Initiative farming goals and objectives.
• Ensure activity reporting and accountability of all the farm activities.
• Maintain accurate records of farm activities, expenditures, and outcomes.
• Represent the organisation in agricultural forums, conferences, and events.

Qualification Details.

1. Diploma in Agronomy, Agriculture, Agribusiness or related field (required) from a recognised institution.
2. Other verifiable trainings and certificates will be an added advantage.
3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a farm manager.
4. Technical Knowledge.
5. Strong understanding of agricultural practices, including crop management, poultry keeping, irrigation, piggery and pest control.
6. Leadership and Management skills
7. Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities.
